Slips and Trips!
While covered in pink undercoat, James is asked by Sir Topham Hatt to pick up his granddaughter and take her to the Town Hall for her birthday party. But James is worried he will be seen by his friends and tries to hide his pink coat from them on the way. Thomas has to wear a replacement funnel while his own is being fixed and he is embarrassed about it. When Thomas is asked to carry some special bubble liquid for Mr. Bubbles, the famous clown, the other engines laugh at Thomas' funnel. Thomas rushes by them really fast to get away, spilling all the bubble liquid. Thomas returns to get more, and in doing so, learns that making people laugh can be a good thing.

Alicia Botti, the famous opera singer, is coming to Sodor. Thomas is bubbling with pride that he is to collect her and take her to the Town Hall for the grand concert. Also arriving that day is a new engine named Charlie. When Percy says that Charlie is more fun than Thomas, it makes Thomas worried. Thomas doesn't want Charlie to think he isn't fun, so when Charlie starts racing around the island, Thomas joins in, but a bumpy track causes Annie and Clarabel to uncouple from Thomas and he puffs off leaving Miss Botti behind. Arriving late and without Miss Botti, Sir Topham Hatt is cross with Thomas. Thomas searches for Miss Botti and finds out that she is having a marvelous time singing to anyone who will listen and more than ready for the concert. While Percy is at the Sodor Steam Works being repaired, Thomas is excited to be given the job of doing the mail run for him. Gordon advises Thomas to ask Percy for advice but Thomas thinks he knows all about how to deliver the mail. He sets off very early in the morning, tooting his whistle loudly wherever he goes. In the process, Thomas wakes up Mavis, Cranky, Victor and Kevin. Later, the sleepy engines make mistakes and Thomas realizes his error. The next morning, having learned a few lessons from Percy, Thomas does the mail run again, this time very quietly.

It's actually a statue, but Thomas thinks it's a real lion, and is too excited to listen to other engines who try to correct him. Thomas gets his friends to help by giving the "lion" fish and straw. So, all because Thomas was in too much of a hurry to listen to advice, the statue is in a real mess. When Thomas realizes his error, he manages to get the statue cleaned and delivered to the Town Square in time for its unveiling.

Sir Topham Hatt announces that the library is holding a special story time for all the children. He needs an engine to deliver the storybooks. Thomas is so excited that he has been chosen for the special that he doesn't wait to for the books to be tied in place. As Thomas gets more excited, he chuffs faster and faster and ends up along a bumpy track. Soon his trucks bump high in the air and the storybooks land in Farmer McColl's field. Thomas doesn't want to let the children down and decides to make it a picnic story time, and brings the children to the storybooks. Percy has a special Special. He is to deliver a big gift crate to Knapford. It is Dowager Hatt's birthday present from Sir Topham Hatt. Percy is so proud that he decides that rather than go directly to Knapford, he will show off his gift crate to Mavis. But at the Quarry, it gets covered in slate dust! Percy is mortified and tries to fix the situation by taking the crate to the Wash Down and then to be dried at the Sodor Steam Works. It is all a disaster! Percy then realizes that he could put the bedraggled parcel into a new crate. Victor helps him and supplies a brand new crate which is painted red. When Dowager Hatt sees her new gift wrapped gift - she is thrilled!!

It's a rainy day on the Island of Sodor. Big puddles are everywhere. Thomas decides to have a game of splashing puddles with Rosie. It's such good fun that he continues this instead of going to the Wash Down to prepare for his Special - to pick up Sir Topham Hatt and Alicia Botti, the famous singer, who are both waiting at Maithwaite. Thomas first splashes Charlie and then Emily and her flour trucks. He then splashes James and his trucks of ripe strawberries, which all get covered in dirty rain water. Lastly Thomas splashes through the biggest puddle of all and splashes Sir Topham Hatt and Alicia Botti. It's a disaster! Her dress is ruined and Thomas' firebox goes out. He has to give the Special to Rosie and then get new strawberries and flour for the cake. No more puddles for Thomas! Gordon thinks he's the strongest, the most special and the best engine. Ignoring the advice of Sir Topham Hatt not to climb any steep hills in the snow, Gordon does. In the process he splashes Spencer, the smart engine, who crashes into some trucks and derails Thomas. Gordon isn't strong enough to release Thomas from the snow and so he gets Rocky. Rocky rescues Thomas and Gordon learns a lesson. He learns that all engines are special and none are best.

It is a busy day in Sodor as Knapford Station is being decorated. Emily is collecting the flowers for the new window boxes, but when Mavis does not say hello, Emily assumes she is sad and chuffs to the quarry to cheer her up with some of the flowers. The flowers end up in the way of the engines' work. Edward and Thomas crash and slate goes everywhere. Mavis arrives to find the quarry in a mess. Emily learns that if she had asked, she would have known that Mavis wasn't sad at all. Emily tidies the quarry and delivers the flowers, which makes Mavis really happy. Henry wants to do good deeds but instead he manages to do bad deeds. He lets a herd of clean pigs get dirty in a field. He frightens the pigs so they topple over a barrel of apples and the pigs eat the apples. He scares away the Sodor Warbler just as bird watchers are about to take its photo. In despair, Henry carries out his original task of taking a tall nesting pole to the coast. On the way, Henry gives a lift to a tired bird. It turns out to be the Sodor Warbler. All the bird watchers are delighted when Henry arrives with the rare bird on his fenders. Henry, unwittingly, has done a good deed.

Out and About
The engines were preparing for the Sodor Kite Gala. Thomas is very excited because he loves kites. Sir Topham Hatt's grandchildren are up on Gordon's Hill with their multi-colored kite. When the wind blows their kite away, Thomas promises to catch it for them. Charlie wants to help Thomas catch the runaway kite, but Thomas doesn't want any help. Thomas is sure he can catch it all by himself. Thomas soon realizes that catching runaway kites is really tricky and he can't do it all by himself. It is only with the help of his friends that Thomas finally catches the runaway kite. Thomas is excited because he has to deliver new white bee hives/houses to Farmer Trotter. Hiro warns Thomas to puff through the shady woodland so that the bees can rest. At a junction, Thomas decides the bees would find the track by the flowery field much prettier! Chaos! The bees swarm to the flowers and won't come back! Thomas leaves the hives and chuffs off to borrow Hiro's flatbed of flowers, to entice the bees back to him. It works except that Thomas is now covered by a swarm of bees!! Eventually, Thomas admits his mistake and takes the flower flatbed back to the hives. He then takes the shady track, the bees return to the hives and Farmer Trotter has his bees and bee hives!

Toby is fitted with a brand new three chime whistle while his little bell is repaired. Toby finds this new whistle a bit daunting. So instead, Toby comes up with a plan. If he is very careful and drives very slowly he won't need to use it. However, when Thomas hurtles towards some cows, which have wandered onto the tracks, Toby is forced to use his bell. Toby realizes that his bell is not that scary, in fact it makes a great noise. So, when Gordon races towards a fallen tree, Toby is happy to blow his whistle and save Gordon too. At Knapford Station, Hiro sees that Sir Topham Hatt is very busy. Sir Topham Hatt is in a rush to see his brother. He appears without his hat and even knocks into a porter! Edward puffs in. He needs instructions from Sir Topham Hatt for the visitors he has. Hiro decides he will help Sir Topham Hatt, by making decisions for him, in his absence! Hiro tells Edward to take the visitors to the Hills, tells Thomas to take time to visit Farmer Trotter and the piglets and then tells Percy to take his flatbed of ducks to the Fenland for a swim! Hiro feels delighted with his work until Sir Topham Hatt meets him. The visitors are late, Farmer McColl wants his ducks and where is Thomas and his crates!? Sir Topham Hatt is never too busy for engine business. Hiro is mortified. He chuffs off fast to tell Edward, Thomas and Percy to complete their tasks quickly. Order is returned and Hiro returns to Knapford where Sir Topham Hatt tells him that he is still a Really Useful Engine!

A big mistake occurs when Edward takes Sir Topham Hatt's car to the Steam Works by mistake, but Kevin doesn't know how to fix cars, only steam engines. Edward is horrified when he arrives back at the Steam Works and sees that instead of fixing the car, Kevin has put a funnel on its roof! Edward realizes that he needs to concentrate on his job rather than racing around Sodor with Charlie. Toby & The Whistling Woods - Sir Topham Hatt asks Toby to go to the Summer House. Toby is scared because this means that Toby will need to puff through the Whistling Woods. But he decides to be brave and starts to make his way through them. Toby hears a strange noise and reverses quickly out of the woods where he meets Thomas and James. The engines see that Toby is a little frightened and offer to travel through the woods with him but Toby insists he can get through the woods on his own. When Toby gets scared again, Thomas and James tell him that the noises are friendly sounds. One sound is being made by a beautiful owl, another is the sound of a waterfall, and the last is the sound of the wind whistling through the woods. Toby is at last happy in the Whistling Woods!

Sir Topham Hatt meets a worried Henry and tells him that the Christmas trees have come from the special box. Henry is relieved and tells the engines to come to the field. The trees are lit with beautiful sparkling lights and Sir Topham Hatt appears from behind the trees dressed as Santa Claus. The engines toot and cheer!
