Guest: Derek Steele, Author "Addict at 10". Derek Steele is an author, public speaker, retired business owner and recovered drug addict. Steele is the author of the book "Addict at 10", which details his triumph over long-term drug and alcohol addiction. Steele suffered abuse and neglect during his childhood, and turned to drugs and alcohol at a very young age. Before long, he was addicted, and spent much of his life in and out of debt and jail. During what Steele calls, "a moment of clarity," he realized the ramifications of his actions and checked himself into rehab at the age of 20. Steele became a self-made millionaire by age 35, and now spends his time giving motivational speeches in an effort to raise awareness about addiction. On Living Smart, Derek Steele will share his story of overcoming his addiction and how he uses his past to teach healthy habits and lifestyles to the youth of America.

The Gift of Tolerance
Guest: Jill Carroll, Scholar, Writer, Author, World Religions Speaker. Jill Carroll PhD. is the author of numerous articles and four books. She is a frequent guest on radio and television programs, and has been interviewed by The New York Times, PBS, and Good Morning America. She is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Religious Studies at Rice University, where she also directed the Boniuk Center for Religious Tolerance until June 2009. She is a recognized expert on issues of religious tolerance, philosophy of religion, American religion, and religion in public life. Her areas of specialty include: the role of religion in world politics, comparative world religions, trends in American religion, the impact of religious diversity in global business, and applied life philosophy. On Living Smart she will discuss the current issues of religious tolerance in our country and the progress we have and may need to make as a nation to thrive in a pluralistic and democratic society.

Guest: Lynne Eldridge M.D., Author "Avoiding Cancer One Day at a Time". Dr. Lynne Eldridge earned her MD from the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed her residency through U of M while doing a studying on health risks related to human exposure to pesticides in Hawaii. She is the author of "Avoiding Cancer One Day at a Time: Practical Advice for Preventing Cancer and is a medical journalist for the New York Times Company. " A breast cancer survivor herself, Dr. Eldridge quit her private practice to fully commit to international and university lectures for the education of lifestyle practices that may reduce the risk or recurrence of cancer. On Living Smart, Lynne Eldridge will discuss her role of researching and speaking internationally on cancer prevention and nutrition.
